ALVARO COLLAO LEON, is a Chilean saxophonist, a passionate, dedicated musician and one of the most complete saxophonists and artist: he is a fantastic performer of contemporary music repertoire and has already collaborated with many great composers. His strong interest and talent in Jazz and Ethno music is completing wide pallet of artistry on the highest level. whose saxophone studies began under the guidance of Miguel Villafruela, later at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux with Marie-Bernardette Charrier, and at the Vienna University with Lars Mlekusch.

He has won awards at numerous music competitions, such as the Soloists Interpretation Contest, 1st prize at the “Young Soloists Competition” he has performed with Symphony Orchestra of Chile, 1st prize “Pan American Competition Classic Saxophone – Mexico 2008,” 1st place in the " Vienna Fidelio Competition" the years 2011 and 2014. He has been the winner of a regional government scholarship Tarapacá-Chile from 2009 until 2014, which is given to the latin american talented artists.

He has performed in important venues in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe including the Vienna Konzerthaus, Mozarteum Salzburg, Vienna Volksoper, Porgy and Bess(AT), Music Academy Katowice(PL), Bibliothèque Mériadeck (FR), and in festivals such as Allegro Vivo Kammermusik Festival(AT), Wiener Festwochen, the Saxophone Festival in Buenos Aires, Peru-Sax 2012, Saxfest Festival in Costa Rica, and the International Festival of the UNAM in Mexico City.
He has participated as a soloist and in cooperation with the Symphonic Orchestra of Chile, ÖENMÖsterreich Ensemble für Neue Musik, Orchester Volksoper Wien, PHACE Ensemble, and the Vienna Saxophonic Orchestra.

The 2014 Alvaro recorded the CD „Perspectivas Sonoras“, that aim of this work is to reflect the acculturation that occurs today when the culture and tradition of the Andes meets the techniques of composition and performing of contemporary Western music. This interpretation of works by composers of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries seeks to reflect the merging of these two cultures.

The 2015 produce a new and amazing CD with the FIVE SAX at the movies, expands upon one of the most popular scenes in the stage show: a medley of film music. Also he was invite from the Stockahausen Society to record the premiere CD of the music LINKER AUGENTANZ" (Left Eye Dance) from his opera LICHT, written by Karlheinz Stockhausen original for saxophone.
