Rui Ozawa

After graduating from Senzoku Gakuen Music School with the highest honours and first prize in the saxophone department, Rui Ozawa moved to France to study at the Conservatoire de Cergy-Pontoise, where she won the gold medal unanimously and the first prize.

She obtained her master's degree in saxophone and chamber music with a saxophone quartet at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, winning the first prize unanimously and graduating at the top of her class. In 2020, she completed her postgraduate studies (DAI).

She won first prize at the 89th Léopold Bellan International Competition (Paris, France), second prize at the 4th International Saxophone Competition (Dreux), 2nd prize in the Saxophone category of the 28th Japanese Wind and Percussion Competition, 3rd prize at the 6th Andorra International Saxophone Competition and 2nd prize at the 7th Adolphe International Saxophone Competition (Dinant, Belgium), the highest award ever given to a woman.

She has performed as a soloist with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, the Paris Police Orchestra, the Paris Conservatory Orchestra and the fanfare.

She has participated in numerous concerts with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, a professional ensemble specialising in contemporary music, and has also performed as a soloist.

She is a member of the Parero Saxophone Quartet, the Ensemble Fila Alba and the Ensemble Otto Voci, both in Japan and abroad.

She studied saxophone with Keiji Munesada, Jean-Yves Fourmeau, Christophe Bois and Claude Delangle, and chamber music with Masato Ikegami, Marylise Fourmeau and David Walter.
