Tibu Santillanes, saxophonist, composer, and performer from Guadalajara, México, known for creating soul stirring, genre blending music that resonates with audiences around the world. With over 25 years of experience, Tibu connects naturally with audiences through his powerful live performances, innovative musical projects, and vibrant live presence.
His early exposure to the stage and performance, laid the groundwork for what would become a deeply creative and far reaching musical career. A true connoisseur of musical styles, Tibu is widely recognized as one of the most versatile and energetic saxophonists in Mexico’s contemporary jazz and rock scenes. His expressive sound is rooted in funk music and enriched with jazz, rock, latin and world music, constantly pushing creative boundaries.
Since 2004, Tibu has been a core member of Troker, one of Mexico's most inventive and genre defying bands. Known for its bold fusion of jazz, psychedelic rock, and Mexican rhythms, Troker Troker has played in renowned venues such as: Glastonbury Festival (UK), Jazzahead! (Germany), WOMEX (Worldwide Music Expo), Vive Latino (Mexico) and many more. As Troker celebrates its 20th anniversary, Tibu remains a driving force behind the band’s evolution, composition, and international impact.
Tibu's creative range extends to several projects that highlight his versatility: Rabiosos del Norte – an energetic blend of regional Mexican and rock; Los Póker Jazz Party & Dobel Póker – pop, funk, and soul with a modern twist; Saxolo – a solo performance concept that combines saxophone improvisation, pop, funk, and electronic music; Passini Decía – biographies of composers with saxophone reinterpretations to inspire and awaken children's interest in classical music and its great creators throughout history.
Tibu's work has been presented on international tours, educational television programs, as well as at festivals and cultural showcases around the world.
