Tae-Young Kim is a saxophonist who has recently risen rapidly in Korea. With natural talent from his parents and innate musicality, Tae-Young Kim is rapidly embarking as a saxophonist and considered one of the most enthusiastic artists of his generation. His thoughtful and poetic, assertive and tender, virtuosic and colorful playing can combine panache with purity and is driven by an impressive natural sense of balance.

Tae-Young Kim was born in 1983 in Seoul, in a musical family where his mother is a pianist and his father is a high school music teacher. He has always spent time with music, and naturally grew up as a musician.

Tae-Young Kim is a saxophonist who can lead his juniors and colleagues. In 2003, he served in the military for two years as Navy Symphonic Band. He led a military band as a music leader in a Navy Symphonic Band and trained them to play around the world. The Naval Academy toured Europe and the Pacific Ocean for 100 days. Among the military service, he had many opportunities to play music all over the world and learned a lot about organizational culture and community.

He is a performer always eager to learn. Kim Tae-young, who was taught by composer and saxophone player Lee Sung-hwan, was a member of the Korean saxophone ensemble and played briskly from an early age. He graduated from Seoul National University, the best Music College in Korea in 2008. After college, he set out on his way to study in France to study music in depth. In 2008, he moved to Paris to study with Jean-Yves Fourmeau in CRR de Cergy-Pontoise, and studied with Nicolas Prost and Jerome Laran in CRR Saint-Maur and Conservatoire d'Aulnay-sous-Bois where he graduated in 2013.

Not only as a performer, he has recently grown up as an educator for students. He is an adjunct professor in Choongnam university and teaching at Seoul National University, where he graduated. As a lecturer, he teaches classical saxophone in college and art high school (Korea National Univeristy of Arts, Ewha womans University, Seokyeong University, Myungji Conservatory, Seoul Arts High school, Goyang High School of Art).

Also, he teaches and plays around the world. He is a proud Henri Selmer Paris artist. Tae-Young Kim was invited to the Singapore Saxophone symposium as a performer in 2014 and 2015. He is working as a faculty in Bangkok, Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy and a member of AMIGO Saxophone Ensemble in Thailand from 2015 until now. In Korea, he is active as a member of Project’S’ saxophone Ensemble and performing many plays all around Korea. Recently, he expanded his career as a conductor. He has been the conductor of the Amuse Saxophone Ensemble, a group of 25 professional saxophonists, since 2019.

An active recitalist, he is a performer who holds a recital on a regular basis. He won 2nd prize in Seoul National University competition, 2nd prize Nantes Saxophone competition, and 1st prize in Sungshin Women University competition. He played with many orchestras: Orchestre National d'Île-de-France, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic, Korean Symphony, and Seoul Youth orchestra. Also as a member of Korean play group in France named ‘Cecile’, he performed many plays and recitals for Koreans living in Paris. Besides these performances, a private recital was held in August 2016 and July 2018 at the Seoul Arts Center.
