Hannah Koob
German saxophonist Hannah Koob is recognized for her warm, expressive sound, even in extreme registers, and her ability to create long vocal passages, a flexible timbre and highly accomplished technique. Passionate about contemporary music, she is expanding the classical saxophone’s possibilities through new repertoire and by collaborations with living composers.
Chamber music is for Hannah as important as playing new music. Together with saxophonist Nuno Silva, she founded the [uan] Duo, and regularly performs with symphony and string orchestras. For her, chamber music represents the highest form of musical communication.
Hannah has premiered several duo and quartet pieces and performed Zeitenwende, a saxophone concerto written by Leonard Küßner and dedicated to her in 2023. She has performed with renowned orchestras such as Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Staatskapelle Dresden, Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg, and the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe.
Hannah’s debut solo album, Die Fremde (2021), and the duo album ORIGINALS, released in 2023 with [uan] Duo, highlight her evolving musical identity and distinctive sound. Hannah continues to refine her tone and technique, shaping an individual voice on the saxophone.
