Nicolas Castro Granados

Nicolas Castro Granados graduated with honours in saxophone performance from the Conservatorio Superior de Castilla y León (Spain) in 2023, under the guidance of Pablo Sánchez-Escariche and Jesús Reneses. His musical journey began at the age of four with his father, conductor and saxophonist Rogelio Castro.

During his training, he worked with renowned figures such as Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Miguel Villafruela, Mariano García, Ángel Soria, Alberto Chaves, Alexandre Doisy, Fernando Ramos, Andrés Gomis, Alain Crepin, Preston Duncan, Alfonso Padilla, Antonio García Jorge and Francisco Rusillo, among others.

He currently divides his teaching activities between several artistic projects, the most important of which is the Varua Duo, in collaboration with Chilean pianist, Catalina Jara. With this ensemble, he is pursuing a Master's degree in chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, under the tutelage of Angelika Merkle and Jaan Bosier.

Recognised from an early age as a versatile and virtuoso performer, he has explored the expressive possibilities of the saxophone in both classical and popular music, building an early artistic and teaching career. He has been invited as a soloist and lecturer to academic institutions such as the Universidad Autónoma de México, the Universidad Pedagógica de Tunja, the Universidad de Caldas and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
