Isaías Villalpando

Isaías Villalpando is one of Mexico's most active and renowned saxophonists. He holds a bachelor's degree in music with a specialization in saxophone from the UAZ School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Ernesto Treto and a master's degree in solo performance from the Instituto Superior de Música Katarina Gurska in Madrid, Spain, with Professor Andrés Gomis.

He won Second place in the International Competition of Arts, Interestellar, Ukraine 2021. First place in the X Concurso Panamericano de Saxofón Clásico Mexico 2018, third place nationally in the Concurso Nacional de Saxofón Clásico, Xalapa 2017”, first and third places in the XIV and XIII Concurso Nacional de Saxofón Clásico “Marcel Mule” in 2015 and 2014.

He has performed as a concertist at important national and international forums and festivals such as the SaxFest Costa Rica, the XIX World Saxophone Congress in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, the Festival Internacional Cervantino, Jóvenes en la Música at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Laberintos Sonoros, the Festival de Música de Cámara Aguascalientes, the Festival de Música y Multimedia, Ramificaciones, the 1st and 2nd Festival Internacional de Saxofón Puebla-BUAP, the Festival Cultural Zacatecas, Clari-Sax Yucatán, the First ECUASAX International Festival, the San Luis Potosí Free Music Festival, the Ricardo Castro International Festival, the 1st International Saxophone Encounter at the University of Guadalajara, the International University Saxophone Encounter in Mexico, and the Miguel Bernal Jimenez Music Festival in Morelia, among others.

He is currently a member of Cora/Saxofones, with whom he has given numerous concerts in Mexico, as well as performing in Costa Rica, Colombia, and Brazil. As a teacher, he has given masterclasses at the Faculty of Musical Arts of the UNAM; the Centro de las Artes de San Luis Potosí; the Universidad de las Artes, Aguascalientes; the Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño de la Universidad de Guadalajara; the Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza “Andrés Segovi” in Algete, Spain; at the Escuela de Artes Musicales de la Universidad de Costa Rica; and at the Colectivo ‘Nah’ de Arte y Cultura in Puebla. He also gives advanced saxophone courses in Zacatecas and is a professor at the Academia de Música y Humanidades ”José Suárez Molina."

Isaías Villalpando plays Henri SELMER Paris Alto Super Action 80 Serie II and Tenor Serie III saxophones.
