Matteo Mastromarino

Matteo Mastromarino was born in Statte (TA) and began his musical career at the age of three with his father, graduating in clarinet in 2012 under the guidance of Antonio Tinelli. He studied also with Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and he graduated in Master in Musical Interpretation in the Romain Guyot class at the Haute Ecole de Musique of Geneva.

He is winner of international competitions, including Accademia Musicale Pescarese, Ciro Scarponi, Saverio Mercadante, Marco Fiorindo, Malta Woodwind Competition and Lisbon International Clarinet Competition. In 2014 he was official member of the Academy of the Collegium Musicum Schloß Weißenstein in Pommersfelden and the following year he was invited to play the First Concerto in F minor by Weber as a soloist.

He has also performed as a soloist with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisbõa and the Magna Grecia Orchestra. He has collaborated with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra of Helsinki, Ensemble Les Dissonances, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice (Genova), Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico (Vicenza), Orchestra Luigi Cherubini.

During his orchestra career he had the opportunity to work with world reknown artists such as Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Juraj Valchua, Nicholas Collon, Olli Mustonen, Evgeny Kissin, Julian Rachlin, Maxim Emelyanychev, John Storgårds, Leif Segerstam, Olli Mustonen, Jeffrey Tate, John Axelrod, Hannu Lintu, Denis Kozhukhin, Nathalie Stutzmann, Andris Poga, Shlomo Mintz and Alexander Lonquich.

He has played for Ravello Festival, Ravenna Festival, Yle (Finnish Radio), Philharmonie de Paris, Opera de Dijon, Philharmonie de Luxembourg, Auditorium del Lingotto of Turin, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, LAC Lugano, Victoria Hall de Genève, Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma, Unione Musicale di Torino, Accademia Chigiana of Siena, Amici della Musica “Arcangelo Speranza” of Taranto and Festival Das Artes of Coimbra.

On June 22nd, 2016 he was awarded by the President of the Chamber of Deputies Laura Boldrini during the National Music Day. Since February 2020, Matteo holds the position of Section Principal Clarinet of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (Finland).

He currently plays as Principal Clarinet with the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, (Palermo) and he recently won the Principal Clarinet audition at the Tuscany Chamber Orchestra (Florence).

Matteo is plays the Bb and A Muse clarinets.
