Marcin Kajper
Marcin Kajper is a tenor, alto and soprano saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, session musician currently residing in Warsaw. Graduate of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Secondary Music School in Poznań in the clarinet class of Professor Jarosław Wachowiak. In 1998, he began further education at the Ignacy Paderewski Academy of Music, which he continued in Professor Jerzy Jarosik's saxophone class at the Academy of Music in Katowice at the Jazz and Popular Music Department.
He has cooperated with such artists of the Polish jazz scene as: Andrzej Przybielski, Piotr Biskupski, Grzegorz Nadolny, Zbigniew Wrombel, Filip Wojciechowski, Paweł Pańta, Cezary Konrad, Marcin Pendowski.
In 2008, with his band Switch On Quintet, he won the Grand Prix at the jazz festival in Siofók (Hungary) and with the same band was among the top bands at the jazz festival in Usti nad Leba (Czech Republic).
As a solo instrumentalist, he won first prize in the seventh edition of the competition in Szczecin – “Zmagania Jazzowe”. With Maciej Fortuna's quintet he won 2nd prize at the jazz festival for young musicians in Kraków - Jazz Juniors 2008.
Since 2012, he has been working on a permanent basis with guitarist, composer and vocalist Ray Wilson, who replaced Phil Collins in the Genesis band.
For the last few years he has been recording his own albums with his band No. 1, Living out of a suitcase, Elevator music, Portal.
