Carlos Ordonez de Arce

Born in Leganés (Madrid-Spain) in 1996, Carlos Ordonez de Arce began his musical studies under the guidance of maestro Ángel Luis de la Rosa, with whom he finished the professional degree of saxophone at the Amaniel Professional Music Conservatory, getting the highest qualification : Honor Prize. He currently resides in Bordeaux (France), where he takes higher music studies under the tutelage of Marie-Bernadette Charrier and Hilomi Sakaguchi (PESDM of Bordeaux Aquitaine).

He has received numerous masterclasses from renowned international performers and masters such as Pedro Pablo Awnings Camera, Xabier Casal, Lars Mlekusch and Jean-Marie Londeix, among others.

While he continues his studies in France, he has performed several concerts with numerous municipal bands and symphonic orchestras in Spain (Madrid, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla and León) and in France with L'Orchestre d'Harmonie of Bordeaux.

He has been awarded in national and international competitions, including the most important recognition of his musical career : the First Prize of the V International Saxophone Competition Jean-Marie Londeix, held in Bangkok, Thailand, in July 2017, being the youngest winner in the history of one of the most internationally recognized competitions, chaired by the distinguished international concert performer Jean Marie Londeix with a jury of prestigious musicians of all the world.

Finalist of the contest "Classic Wind Competition" for saxophone and clarinet in Hamburg, 2018. Recently received the prize "Ville de Lège Cap Ferret" with Blocos trio (formed with Marc Olivier Point and Pablo de la Fuente) in the competition Cap Ferret Open 2019 ( France ) as well as direct access to the finals of the international chamber music competitions, in Osaka (Japan) and the Leopold Bellan contest (France).

Previously, he received the "Extraordinary award of Music from community of Madrid" (2016), the "Ramón Guzmán" Competition Award of the Professional Section A held in Santiago de Compostela (2013), 2nd Prize in the "Ciudad de Ávila" Music Competition with Orion saxophone Trio (2015), 1st Prize in the International Chamber Music Competition "Ciutat de Vinaròs" with Thesis Quartet (2017).

In his role as an interpreter, he has performed concerts and recitals in Europe, Central America, Africa, and Asia : Spain, France, Germany, Mexico, Morocco and Thailand; Performing at halls and auditoriums like the National Auditorium of Madrid, Kursall de San Sebastian, Palau de les Arts de València, Auditorium de l'Opéra de Bordeaux and Prince Mahidoll Hall de Bangkok among others.

Carlos has participated as soloist with different groups among which stand out: Municipal bands of Getafe (Madrid), Esquivias (Toledo) and Meaño (Galicia), Orquesta Sinfónica from the professional music conservatory Amaniel, Orchestre d'Harmonie du CRR de Bordeaux, Ensemble de saxophones Bordeaux Nouvelle Aquitaine and Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has also participated in numerous saxophone and contemporary music festivals such as "2nd International Saxophone Festival" in Puebla (Mexico) performing several concerts and masterclass during the festival, ‘’ENSEMS’’’ (Spain) participating with Sigma Projet, ‘‘World saxophone Congress’' with the Ensemble of saxophones Bordeaux Nouevelle Aquitaine in Zagreb (Croatia) and the "ClariSax Yucatan" being invited as a concert player, guest teacher and jury chair "Pan American Saxophone Competition Selmer Paris 2019" in Merida (Mexico)

He is a founding member of Bloco’s trio and member of Thesis Quartet with whom he performs concerts, tours and masterclass in Spain and France.

As a teacher, he has taught several advanced courses in interpreting among which are in the Faculty of Music of Mexico D.F, during the "Clari-Sax Yucatan" in Merida (Mexico), the course with Thesis Quartet in Valga (Pontevedra, Spain) and the festival EnSerra in Brasil.
