Vincent David

"My music follows my evolution and experience, I like the diversity of styles and ideas. But there are above all influences; I was lulled by the French music of the 20th century, Debussy, Ravel, then more modern, Bartok, Ligeti, Messiaen, Boulez, as well as by jazz."

Vincent DAVID was born in Paris in 1974 and is graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in 1996 with a first prize with unanimity, class of Claude Delangle. He finished his studies in perfectionnement where he distinguishes himself in international competitions:

He collaborated with Pierre Boulez and created in Paris in 2001 a new version for saxophone of Dialogue de l’ombre double. Since then he plays this masterpiece.

For the saxophone’s repertoire around the world, a young composer, Bruno Mantovani, composed for him a concerto for saxophone solo and ensemble Troisième round. He performed it with the Ensemble Intercontemporain and this piece is recorded by AEON production with the ensemble TM+.

Vincent David gives numerous master classes and concerts throughout Europe and Asia. His repertoire is composed of creations and transcriptions. He plays in the saxophone’s quartet Arcanes.

Through his taste for eclecticism he also plays with famous big bands in Europe, such as Le sacre du Tympan conducted by Fred Palem.

He is a saxophone professor at the Versailles Conservatoire and is in charge of a new collection for the Billaudot publishing house.
