Trumpet

Satchmo Limited Edition Trumpet

The Satchmo trumpet, available in a limited edition of 25 numbered pieces (finish: raw), has been designed as the perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity. It is aimed at demanding musicians looking for character, precision and musicality.

The acoustic objective was to offer a “jazz” trumpet with an open and easy bore, immediate response, flawless mechanics and a full, warm and centred sound, true to the spirit of the original SELMER trumpets.

It's also the first time in history that SELMER has launched an instrument with a raw finish. This preserves all of the instrument's acoustic qualities, allowing it to "vibrate" freely. Aesthetically, each trumpet will develop a patina over time, making it completely unique.

Developed with musicians Airelle Besson and Nicolas Gardel, this trumpet benefits from careful intonation and projection, validated in real playing situations. The instrument reveals its full personality in a wide variety of contexts, from intimate solo performances to amplified stages performances.

Supplied with a case and white gloves (handling of the trumpet must be done exclusively with the white gloves for testing purposes, to avoid leaving marks).

Available at selmer.fr and at the Henri SELMER Paris Showroom.

Valve block

Valve block

Just like the older models, Sigma or Chorus, this Périnet M/L Valve Block offers flawless mechanics, unrivalled precision and renowned durability.
Bell

Bell

The wide bell (130 mm) allows for great projection. Worthy of the signatures of Henri SELMER's finest craftspeople, the choice of flat rim pays tribute to the brand's expertise.
Size

Size

The instrument has been shortened compared to the average. This results in a warmer sound, similar to that of a flugelhorn or bugle , as well as greater playing comfort, with a more immediate sound perception.
Slide magnet

Slide magnet

Thanks to a discreet magnet, the 3rd slide no longer falls out or opens when not held or when the instrument is put down.
Water keys

Water keys

It is with great emotion that Satchmo is reviving the magnificent SELMER water keys, parts that have been preserved in our factory for years.
Ebony

Ebony

Made from our clarinet manufacturing offcuts, the valve caps are filled with this noble material that is very pleasant to the touch: Mozambique ebony. A nod to Henri SELMER, clarinetist.
Tribute

In tribute to Louis Armstrong, jazz pioneer and loyal supporter of the Maison, each trumpet in this limited edition bears the engraving "Satchmo." A signature that connects yesterday and today in a single breath.

Behind the scenes of the

Design

Our ambition: to restore the French trumpet to its rightful place in the world of contemporary jazz.

Designed as an instrument with character, combining power, fluidity and elegance, it is the result of a unique collaboration between Henri SELMER Paris, luthier Jérôme Wiss – the only craftsman to make his brass instruments entirely in France – and two leading artists: Airelle Besson and Nicolas Gardel.

Constant dialogue guided every stage of the design process, resulting in a trumpet that is resolutely contemporary and faithful to the SELMER spirit.

Testimonials

This ease, this volubility, this very round sound... I really recognize the Selmer signature in this new trumpet!
Airelle Besson
The instrument resonates quite easily on its own, with a very velvety sound, which is very pleasant. And it's really nice to rediscover the Selmer valve block, so fast and smooth!
Nicolas Gardel
