SELMER Summer Clarinet Academy 2020
Facing the backdrop of this year's global epidemic, the traditional Summer Clarinet Academy took place entirely online. Open to clarinetists from all over the world, this special edition was a great success.
The pedagogical team was composed of Guy Yehuda (Michigan State University, Principal Clarinet of Lansing Symphony Orchestra), Bradford Behn (Principal Clarinet of Oklahoma City Philharmonic), Alessandro Carbonare (Orchestra di Santa Cecilia), Jonathan Holden (Florida State University), Maureen Hurd Hause (Rutgers University), Michael Lowenstern (Manhattan School of Music) et Tasha Warren (Michigan State University, American Modern Ensemble).
The teachers are selected for their artistic skills, of course, but also and above all for their human qualities, their sense of listening and pedagogy. We thus guarantee students a wealth of exchanges and advice that allows them to progress in a friendly and stimulating atmosphere through private lessons and master classes.
Participants also had the opportunity to take part in the Academy's competition by sending an audio/video file (the repertoire included Mozart and André Messager in the first round; Robert Schumann, Igor Stravinsky and Ernest Chausson in the second round), with three prizes to be won.
Henri SELMER Paris once again congratulates the winners of this 2020 edition:
- First prize: Tiago Carvalhoesilva (Selmer Paris Bb Presence clarinet)
- Second price: Mia Zamora ($1000)
- Third price: Jennifer Rocco (Henri SELMER Paris Concept mouthpiece)
We thank from the bottom of our hearts all the students who participated, and the teachers who were able to adapt and propose inspiring contents.
