Julio Yahir Morales
Julio Yahir Morales Hernandez was born in the city of Morelia, Michoacan. At the age of six, he began his musical journey through the clarinet and traditional Mexican music, considering himself a traditional musician with conservatory training. At the age of 15, he began his formal studies with Alfredo Valdés-Brito at the Conservatorio de Las Rosas, from which he graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Music degree.
During his studies, he performed in numerous concerts both in Mexico and abroad. He has participated as a soloist with various orchestras throughout the country and was awarded the 2019 Youth Prize by the Morelia City Council.
In 2019, he earned his Master's degree in performance with a Cum Laude distinction from the Maastricht Conservatory in the Netherlands, where he studied with the internationally renowned clarinetist Roeland Hendrikx. During his time in Europe, he gave concerts in Belgium, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
He has premiered more than 50 works working very closely with composers and has made more than 30 record productions in different musical genres. In 2021 he received the FONCA grant in the category of Scenic Creators "A" in the area of music, recording 10 unpublished works of various genres.
He was a member of the DANAUS Ensemble, maintaining a strong presence in the chamber music scene within the country. Yahir Morales has a tireless musical career, giving solo concerts with orchestras and symphonic bands throughout Mexico, piano recitals, and chamber music ensembles. He also conducts masterclasses in various states and produces music for Mexican artists. In 2025, he was the director of the wind band at MONTRER University and is currently the principal clarinetist of the Michoacan Symphony Orchestra, a professor at the Popular Faculty of Fine Arts, and one of the directors of the Morelia International Clarinet Festival.
