Alice Morgan
Alice Morgan is a Sydney/Eora-based saxophonist and musician recognised for her vibrant artistry and her unwavering commitment to contemporary live performance. From classical to experimental, her passion for music shapes her dynamic work as a performer.
Since her nomination for the renowned Freedman Fellowship, Alice has become a prominent voice in the Australian music scene. She performs extensively across Australia, and frequently appears with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as Guest Principal Saxophone. Alice appeared as concerto soloist internationally with the Resonance Ensemble in Tony Ryan’s Concerto for soprano saxophone and orchestra in Christchurch, New Zealand, and locally with Ensemble Apex in Ibert’s Concertino da Camera. Alice has appeared on ABC Classic as Performer of the Week and was interviewed for the popular program Duet, featuring a live performance with acclaimed Australian pianist Tamara Anna-Cislowska.
Alice proudly champions Australian music, having premiered works by many of Australia’s leading composers. She was named Ensemble Offspring’s Hatched Associate Artist in 2024, which culminated in a performance of six world premieres in the Sydney Opera House Utzon Room. Alice collaborates regularly with the Bowerbird Collective performing Australian works in chamber music festivals across the country.
During her Bachelor's degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Alice was awarded the Board of Governors’ Annual Scholarship, and the Peter Richmond Memorial Prize for her contribution to chamber music. She graduated with First Class Honours in Saxophone Performance. In her final year she toured internationally with the Sydney Youth Orchestra as orchestral soloist for Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and in the same year was chosen to participate in the Estivo Chamber Music Festival in Verona with her saxophone quartet, Luxum. Alice also won the Solo Performance and Group Performance sections of the Palladian Instrumental Competition, and as a student won the Under 18 Saxophone section of the Australian Clarinet and Saxophone Conference.
Alongside her performing career Alice is a keen educator, having presented masterclasses at both the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and in 2026 presented a program of works and masterclasses at the Aotearoa Classical Saxophone Summer School at the University of Auckland. Alice is a tutor at the NSW Department of Education Arts Unit, and has been a private saxophone tutor for over a decade. Alice is a full-time member of the NSW Police Band, performing in educational and concert settings across the state.
Highlights in 2026 include performing in Vaughan Williams’ Symphony no. 6 with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; presenting a sold-out concert of saxophone-piano duo repertoire with renowned young pianist Ronan Apcar with Phoenix Central Park; performing and producing Trance Classical with Ensemble Apex in Melbourne; and performing as concerto soloist with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
