Yan Mařatka
Yan Mařatka, born in 2003, is a young Franco-Czech clarinettist who is establishing himself as a rising star on the classical music scene. He began playing the clarinet at the age of 8 and entered the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 16. He is now perfecting his skills at the Geneva University of Music.
Winner of numerous international competitions (ARD Munich Special Prize, Lisbon, Jacques Lancelot Tokyo & Rouen, Janáček Brno), Yan Mařatka stands out for his talent and expressiveness.
Passionate about chamber music, he has collaborated with artists such as Philippe Bernold, Michel Portal, François Salque, Kirill Gerstein, Marc Coppey, François Dumont, Michel Lethiec, Olivier Charlier, Emmanuel Strosser, Berlin/Vienna Philharmonic Nonet and participates in festivals such as Aix-en-Provence, La Grange de Meslay, Les Journées Ravel, the Mozart Festival, and the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo. He performs regularly with the Pentagone Wind Quintet, of which he is a founding member.
Yan Mařatka is Principal Clarinet with the Belgian National Orchestra and regularly collaborates with ensembles such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre National de Lyon, the ONDIF…
As a soloist, he has performed with the Orchestre National de Cannes, the Münchener Kammerorchester, the London City Orchestra, the Opéra de Rouen, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic and the Brno Philharmonic.
