Kenneth Whalum

Memphis-born artist Kenneth Whalum is a singer, songwriter, saxophonist, arranger, and producer whose work bridges soul, jazz, R&B, and alternative music. His unmistakable voice on the saxophone and deeply personal approach to songwriting have made him a respected solo artist and trusted collaborator across generations of music.

Whalum's work spans some of the most influential music of the past two decades. His credits include Jay-Z's American Gangster and 4:44, Maxwell's Grammy-winning BLACKsummers'night, Beyoncé's B'Day and Renaissance, Mac Miller's Swimming, and work with D'Angelo and the Vanguard, Robert Glasper, Frank Ocean, and Chris Brown. He is also a member of the Trey Anastasio Band and has been Ludacris's musical director for nearly two decades.

His recent work includes performing with Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium, appearing with Sabrina Carpenter on Saturday Night Live, and being featured as a special guest performer at the 2026 BET Awards. He also appears on Rod Wave's “Keep Dancing,” from the Billboard No. 1 album Don't Look Down.
