Damez Nababan
Damez Nababan grew up in a music-loving family and discovered the saxophone in 2005. He pursued fornal music education at the Music Vocational School in Yogyakarta, graduati11g as valedictorian with his recital examined by maestro Addie MS.
In 2009, he moved to Jakarta and soon after won first place at the Asian Beat vs. Tokyo Band Summit in Yokohama, Japan, representing Indonesia. His professional debut came in 2011 with the renowned jazz band Trio Lestari, followed by collaborations with leading artists such as Ran, Tompi, Sheila Majid, Gigi, Tohpati and Kahitna.
Damez has performed with the Indonesia Winds Orchestra and Gita Bahana Nusantara at official state functions, as well as at major festivals including Java Jazz, Singapore Jazz, Kwaku Festival Amsterdam, We The Fest, Synchronize Fest, and Joyland Festival.
As a member of Fusion Stuff, he received two Indonesian AMI Award nominations in 2015. In 2024, he founded the Homs Star Big Band, serving as bandleader and artistic clirector.
His instruments of choice are the Henri SELMER Paris Alto saxophone Supreme "Modèle 2022" and the Tenor saxophone Reference 54.
