Chia-Yu Huang

Chia-Yu Huang is a prize-winning clarinetist whose performances span Taiwan and Europe, captivating audiences with her expressive interpretations and dedication to music education.

She graduated from the Department of Music, Soochow University (Taiwan) under Pei-Yun Lin, the Conservatoire de Gagny (François-Joseph Gossec, France) under Sylvie Hue (Principal Clarinet of the French Republican Guard Orchestra), and the CNR de Boulogne-Billancourt (France) under Jean-Max Dussert. She was awarded the Premier Prix à l’unanimité avec félicitations du jury in the advanced class, along with the Diplôme de Fin d'Études Musicales with highest honors in instrumental performance. In addition, she won First Prize in the 'Supérieur' category at the Union des Femmes Artistes Musiciennes (UFAM) International Music Competition in France.

Her performances also extend internationally, collaborating with ensembles such as Sirens Symphonic Winds, Taiwan Wind Ensemble, and New Art Symphony Orchestra, and contributing to numerous professional recordings. As a founding member of the Transparent Sonority Clarinet Ensemble, she has collaborated with musicians from Taiwan and overseas, performing at venues including the National Concert Hall and the Kaohsiung Cultural Center. She has premiered and interpreted numerous works for clarinet ensemble, and in 2023 was featured on the ensemble’s 10th anniversary album After Reading and the accompanying concert tour.

In the field of education, Chia-Yu Huang is actively teaching clarinet at both secondary and university levels in Taiwan.
