Ricard Capellino

Born in Sueca (Valencia), Ricard Capellino began his musical studies in this locality with numerous teachers such as F. Perez , A. Ripoll , E. Perez , J. de la Vega, ... and received training courses from soloists such as M. Mijan, A. Gomis, Daniel Kientzy, Jean- Yves Formeau, Daniel Deffayet, Jean-Marie Londeix, Claude Delangle, Marie-Bernadette Charrier and Marcus Weiss, among others.

In his long career he has been the winner of several prizes and finalist in national and international competitions, which earned him the title of Superior Professor, with the best qualifications and "Honourable Mention" unanimously, at the WSC "Joaquin Rodrigo" in Valencia.

Ricard has taken part in various tours as a performer and soloist around the world, in Paris, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Berlin, Basel, Lisbon, Milan, Santos, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Helsinki, Madrid, Alicante, Santiago de Chile, Salamanca, Bilbao... in the different cycles and International Festival of Contemporary Music (Music Festival "Musica Nova" Sao Paulo, "Contemporaneamente-Lodi" in Milan, ENSEMS in Valencia, "Unerhörte-Musik" in Berlín, "Klang Festival" in Helsinki, Mostra Sonora de Sueca, Instituto Cervantes in Paris, Festival "Smash" Salamanca, Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid, "músicad'hoy", "Opus Festival" in Bourdeaux, etc... ).

He has premiered numerous works by various internationally renowned composers, many of which are dedicated to him.

He has made several recordings for RTVE, RNE, Radio and Televisao of Portugal, Radio 1 of Finland... and is invited to participate in discussions, seminars and conferences around the saxophone.

Ricard is very involved in the interpretation of contemporary music, in collaboration with different international ensembles such as TDM Trio De Magia and the Ensemble Espai Sonor, combining this with pedagogy and the search for new sound possibilities of the saxophone. Currently, he plays with the trio Feedback.

He has made numerous recordings: 1 compact disc with Espai Sonor and with the label "Stradivarius" and the music of Voro García, 1 DVD with the music of José Manuel López López (La grande Céleste) with images of the filmmaker Pascal Auger and 2 other compact discs, as a soloist, the first one with the works of the Spanish composers Mauricio Sotelo, Voro García, José Manuel López López and Jesus Torres, and the second one with the compositions of Alberto Posadas, Mark André, Raphaël Cendo and Hèctor Parra. He has completed a work on the new sound possibilities of the saxophone, from sopranino to bass, entitled New perspectives on the saxophone. From Sonic exploration to composition.

Since 1999, he has been a member of the teaching staff for music and performing arts of the Spanish Ministry of Music, and is invited to give master classes and conferences in prestigious national and international musical institutions.
