Henriette Jensen

Danish saxophonist Henriette Jensen is a very active and accomplished musician, both in chamber music settings and as a soloist.

Her chamber music groups comprises Aiolos Sax and Organ Duo, Trio Callisto, Jutlandia Saxophone Quartet, Duo Plus, Ensemble Lydenskab and the internationally renowned Melisma Saxophone Quartet, with whom she has played concert all over Europe, and in Asia and South America. In 2011 this quartet was finalist in the prestigious Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan.

As a soloist Henriette Jensen has appeared internationally in Andrei Eshpai ś Saxophone Concerto (France 2015 and Russia 2013), Jacques Ibert’s Concertino Da Camara (Norway, 2007) and in H. Villa Lobos’s Fantasia (Denmark, 2012).

Henriette has worked with several composers about a new repertoire for the saxophone, and has premiered many new works for saxophone in Denmark and abroad. In 2015, for example, she made a concert tour around Cuba presenting new Danish music for solo saxophone, with her project SoloSAX.

In 2009 Henriette won the YMFE scholarship awarded by the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe. Henriette is a former student of Claus Olesen (DK) and Arno Bornkamp (NL). She made her debut concert from the advanced soloist class of The Royal Academy of Music (Aarhus/ DK) in October 2012.

Next to playing solo and chamber music, Henriette Jensen is teacher of saxophone and pedagogy at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus (DK). Here she is also one of the organisers behind the succesfull Nordic Saxophone Festival, which takes place every year in spring, and gathers saxophonists from around the globe in Aarhus. She has been giving master classes notably in Linz (Austria), Moscow (Russia), Bari (Italy) and Debrecen (Hungary).
