Angelo De Angelis

Angelo De Angelis has been the principal clarinet at Rome's Teatro dell'Opera since 2001. He was born in Cantalice, in the center-Italy province of Rieti, in 1966. He followed his studies in music at Conservatorio “A. Casella” in L'Aquila, successfully degreeing with full marks and laude. He took part in prestigious advanced courses directed by Thomas Friedli and Primo Borali.

Then onwards he carried on an intense concert activity alongside the profession of teacher. He was awarded of many music competitions of chamber music and of soloist clarinet, including : international competition “Città di Capri” (1987), XII international competition “Città di Stresa” (1988), IV national competition “Città di Moncalieri” (1989), and national competition “ENDAS” (city of Perugia, 1992).

He collaborated with prestigious orchestras, such as: Orchestra Nazionale di S.Cecilia di Roma, Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra da Camera Italiana di Salvatore Accardo, Orchestra Regionale del Lazio, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese. In many of them, he has been directed by honorable directors, among whom: R. Muti, D. Gatti, C. Dutoit, J. Tate, G. Sinopoli, S. Accardo, D. Kitaenko, I. Karabtchevsky, A.Vedernikov, H Soudant, N. Santi, Z. Pesko, D. Renzetti, K. Ono.

He is involved in many chamber music groups, with which he has been carrying out several concerts across Italy. He has recorded for Brillant Classics and Da Vinci Classics.

He currently plays Henri SELMER Paris Recital clarinets.
