The city of Dinant inaugurates a giant saxophone in tribute to SELMER
It was in the sunshine on the banks of the Meuse River that the people of Dinant were able to attend a musical show retracing with humor and precision the history and connection between Adolphe SAX and Henri SELMER Paris. Nearly one hundred years ago, Henri Selmer acquired the inventor's workshops, integrating his staff and know-how, thus becoming his universal legatee.
And since in Belgium nothing's left half done, the show ended with the inauguration of a giant saxophone, symbol of the transmission from Adolphe Sax to Henri Selmer. The graphic design of the instrument draws its inspiration from the latest SELMER saxophones. You can now come to Dinant to admire the Supreme in XXXL size!
Henri SELMER Paris is very proud of this tribute. This superb wink shows the recognition of a craftsmanship of more than 100 years in which Henri SELMER Paris strives to keep alive the spirit of Adolphe Sax by participating in the influence of his most brilliant invention.
A huge thank you to the City of Dinant and its burgomaster Thierry Bodlet, for their warm welcome. We would also like to thank the entire team of the International Adolphe Sax Association (especially Wendy and Marc) for this partnership of almost 30 years. A very special and friendly thank you to the unavoidable Alain Crepin who works with so much passion, composes and orchestrates all these festivities since 1994!
We look forward to seeing you all in November 2023 for a new edition of the International Adolphe Sax Competition.
