Maison SELMER and military orchestras
Founded in 1885 by a former clarinetist of the Garde Républicaine, Henri SELMER Paris embodies a history and a heritage. Universal legatee of the invention of the saxophone by Adolphe Sax, the company remains a reference in classical and contemporary music, jazz and military music.
Numerous military bands and formations remain faithful to Selmer instruments: Main Army Band, Air Band, Foreign Legion Band, Fleet Crew Band (Toulon), but also the Police Band, the Republican Guard and Fire Brigade bands (including the sapeurs-pompiers de Paris's Band), and the Satory Military Music Conservatory.
Music of sapeurs-pompiers de Paris
The musique des sapeurs-pompiers de Paris is an orchestra composed of musicians recruited on competition. Contributing to the institution's influence, it participates in military ceremonies and internal activities, international military music festivals, but also in concerts for the benefit of municipalities, associations and various organizations. Each year, more than 200 performances are given in this way.
The saxophonists of the Orchestra (hired by the Paris fire department as "music specialists" and at the same time teachers in music schools) recently offered us a nice concert.
