Piyaphon Asawakarnjanakit has become one of the most prominent Thai saxophonists of the new generation after he advanced to the semi-final round in 4th Jean-Marie Londeix Saxophone Competition in 2014.

Piyaphon Asawakarnjanakit was born in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1992. He started to play saxophone at the age of 12. From 2008 to 2014, in the College of Music, Mahidol University, Thailand, Piyaphon studied with Professor Shyen Lee from the Pre-College to bachelor degree program. Afterwards, he earned a master degree from Bowling Green State University (Music Performance) in 2018, where he studied with Dr. John Sampen.

Piyaphon is one of the founding members in Poongizina Saxophone Quartet, with the group he performed and won prizes from international competition and appeared in many conferences and festivals, including the 3rd prizes in Thailand International Wind Ensemble Competition in 2012 and 2013, the 2nd prize in Osaka Music Competition 2013, the semi-finalist in 1st Sax Open Saxophone Quartet Competition in Strasbourg, France.

With the Poongizina Saxophone Quartet, he performed in Nagoya Conservatory in Japan in 2013 and World Saxophone Congress 2015 at Strasbourg, France.

In the USA, Piyaphon was the baritone saxophone player in the Sejetem Saxophone Quartet, with which he performed in many universities and conferences including Fredonia State University, Ball State University, and NASA Saxophone Conference. The Sejetem quartet received a Memorable Mention from Ohio MTNA competition and the 2nd prize from Douglas Wayland Chamber Music Competition.

Other than experienced in performance, he was an assistant teacher in Asian Pacific Saxophone Academy 2015.
