Methawut Pimphapatang

Originally from Thailand, Metawut Pimphapatang has created his reputation as an active and virtuoso concert saxophonist of the new generation.

Methawut Pimphapatang holds the master degree in the Saxophone Performance and Pedagogy Program at the College of music, Mahidol University under the tutelage of Prof. Shyen Lee. He has performed in many international events. Mr. Pimphapatang was selected to be the soloist in Play-off recital at Singapore Saxophone Symposium 2018. With Poongizina Saxophone Quartet and Salaya Saxophone Ensemble he participated the premiere of the news works in the 17th World Saxophone Congress of Strasbourg. With Siam Saxophone Quartet, he appeared in Zagreb, Croatia, the 18th WSC. Methawut taught in master classes and workshops in Thailand International Wind Ensemble Competition Performance Camp, 2018.

Methawut Pimphapatang took master classes and workshops with many prominent maestros including Jean-Marie Londeix, Chien-Kwan Lin, William Street, Rodrigo Villa, Lars Mlekusch and Kerius Saxophone Quartet. He is the prize winner of many competitions, including Stock Exchange Thailand Young Musicians Competition in 2012, the Thailand International Wind Ensemble Competition in 2013, the Thailand International Wind Symphony Competition, and the finalist of the Osaka International Music Competition with the highest score in 2017 and 2018.

Currently, Methawut Pimphapatang is the teaching assistant in the saxophone studio at the College of Music, Mahidol University.
