Federico Coca Garcia

Federico Coca Garcia was born in Granada in 1982. After brilliant studies at the conservatories of Jaén and Granada, he was awarded an honorary prize with the jury's congratulations at the Superior Conservatory of Music in Madrid (class of José Manuel Zaragoza). He then went to study in France, first in Lyon where he won a saxophone prize in the class of Jean-Denis Michat, then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris at the age of 19, where he was the first Spaniard to win first prizes in saxophone (class of Claude Delangle) and chamber music (class of David Walter).

Winner of competitions in Gap, Benidorm, Kiev, Tarragona among others, Federico plays under the direction of great conductors such as Kent Nagano, Heinrich Schiff, Pablo Heras-Casado, Ingo Metzmacher, Jeffrey Tate, M.A. Gómez Martínez and Pablo González in major orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra, the RTVE Orchestra and since 2012 the Madrid Symphony Orchestra.

He has been a full professor of saxophone since 2008, and is currently in charge of the saxophone class at the "Antonio Lorenzo" Professional Conservatory of Music in Motril.
