Diego Núñez

Diego Núñez was born in 1975 in Santa Fe, Argentine, where he resides. He is one of today’s most recognized Latin-American saxophone players.

In 2004, He gets a diploma as a Superior National Professor of Music with specialization in Saxophone at the Instituto Superior de Música of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral.

He studied under guide of María Noel Luzardo and Mónica Cosachov in Argentine and world-renowned Arno Bornkamp in Holland. Besides, as a permanent conception of continuous training, he has received masterclasses from Villafruela, Delangle, Londeix and Rousseau among others.

Every year, he develops a rich artistic agenda, being part of numerous projects of chamber music, Argentinian popular music, and promoting and premiering contemporary music. He appears regularly throughout Argentina, and then Uruguay, Perú, Costa Rica, France, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. As a soloist, Diego Núñez played with Santa Fe Symphonic Band and Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra; and he has collaborated with UNT Tucumán Symphony Orchestra and prestigious Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra.

He represents his country in different World Saxophone Congress : Ljubliana (Slovenia) 2006, St. Andrews (Scotland) 2009 and Strasbourg (France) 2015.

His numerous prizes in competitions include the most important chamber music Contests in Argentina, placing the saxophone on a relevance status in classical music, touring different cities in the country. In addition, he received grants from Mozarteum of Uruguay and Fondo Nacional de las Artes to attend and give seminaries and courses. In 2011, Núñez makes a pedagogical perfection in Claude Delangle’s class at the CNSMDP, France.

He has released two albums together with pianist Fernando Muslera playing Argentinian music and collaborated with many others. He has had the privilege of playing with admired musicians like María Noel Luzardo, Carl-Emmanuel Fisbach, Evgeni Novikov, Claude Delangle and Arno Bornkamp.

Diego Núñez is a regular saxophone teacher from 1999 at the Liceo Municipal de Santa Fe, Escuela Provincial de Música 9902, and from 2007, at the Instituto Superior de Música of Universidad Nacional del Litoral. As a personal interest and commitment in the teaching role, he carries out an incessant activity as a guest teacher of saxophone and chamber music in Music Schools and Festivals in Argentina, South America and Europe.

Nowadays, he is part of Núñez-Ayala duet together with guitarist Pablo Ayala; SVP classical trio next to pianist Anaïs Crestin and violinist Julio Dominguez; and Argentinian music duet together with pianists José Bulos and Fernando Muslera.
