Ricardo Jasso

Ricardo Jasso is one of the most brilliant Mexican saxophonists of his generation. His journey, marked by excellence and determination, led him to become the first Mexican saxophonist admitted to a high-level master’s program in France, within the prestigious saxophone class of the Versailles Conservatory under the direction of Pascal Bonnet.

Born in Mexico City, where he began his musical studies, Ricardo Jasso was quickly driven by his ambition to explore new horizons in Europe. In August 2016, he went to France—the cradle of the modern classical saxophone—to refine his technique. He first studied at the Rennes Conservatory and then at the Pôle Supérieur de Musique de Bretagne, where he immersed himself in the French saxophone tradition, characterized by its precision, refined tone, and approach to classical and contemporary music.

In Rennes, he founded the Numen Saxophone Quartet, with which he has performed at numerous festivals in France and Italy. He is also a founding member of the Trio Oarystis, with which he performs in France. In addition, he has studied with renowned saxophone virtuosos such as Vincent David, Claude Delangle, Jonathan Rautiola, Christian Wirth, Sandro Compagnon, Lars Mlekusch, Guillaume Berceau, and Nicolas Arsenijevic.

As an educator, Ricardo has given masterclasses at major music institutions in his home country, including the Conservatory of Music of Mexico and the Faculty of Music of UNAM.

Ricardo plays a Selmer Supreme alto saxophone, a Serie III soprano saxophone, and Concept mouthpieces.
