Alphonsos De Melo Silveira
Alphonsos Silveira is an internationally acclaimed Brazilian clarinetist, recognized for his work as a soloist, orchestral musician, and educator. Holding advanced degrees from both Brazil and Portugal, he maintains an active career across Europe and Latin America while contributing to clarinet education through masterclasses and his educational platform Clarinete Simples Assim.
Originally from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, he holds a master's degree in interpretation (clarinet) from the University of Évora (Portugal) and a bachelor's degree in clarinet from the State University of Minas Gerais. He is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Aveiro.
He is a clarinetist with the Paraíba Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), a MarcaReeds reed artist (France), and a Pro Team Silverstein ligature artist (USA).
Creator of the YouTube channel Clarinete Simples Assim (Clarinet Made Simple Like That), he develops a clarinet lesson program to help those who do not have access to a teacher.
He has been a soloist with the Paraíba Symphony Orchestra, Rio Negro Symphony Orchestra, Del Chaco Symphony Orchestra, João Pessoa Municipal Symphony Orchestra, Minas Gerais Military Police Symphony Orchestra, Betim Symphony Orchestra, Minas Gerais State University Symphony Orchestra, Lira da Paz Ravena Band, the José Siqueira Band of the Federal University of Paraíba, and the Abdon Felinto Milanez Band.
As a clarinetist, he has performed with the Paraíba Symphony Orchestra, the Opus Orchestra, alongside artists such as Fafá de Belém, Milton Nascimento, Daniela Mercury, and Flavio Venturini; the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra; the ESMU/UEMG Symphony Orchestra; and with the Nova Lima School Musical Orchestra, touring with the Giramundo Puppet Theatre Group in the production Carnival of the Animals.
He has also performed with the Abdon Felinto Milânez Philharmonic Band, the ESMU/UEMG Symphonic Band, the UFMG Symphonic Band, the 12th of March Symphonic Band, the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Band, the 5th of August Municipal Band, the Amares Philharmonic Band (Braga, Portugal), the Euterpe Philharmonic Band (Portalegre, Portugal), the Mourense Philharmonic Band (Mourão, Portugal), the Safarense Musical Artistic Circle Philharmonic Band (Safara, Portugal), the Abdon Felinto Milânez Band (Areia, Brazil), and the Alvarense Philharmonic Band (Portugal).
He has given recitals at the Belém International Clarinetists Meeting (Pará), the Rio Grande do Norte Clarinetists Meeting, the Pernambuco Clarinetists Meeting, the Tenerife ClarinetFest, the XIV Brazilian Clarinetists Meeting (Brasília), and the Paraíba Clarinetists Meeting.
He was the winner of the Minas Gerais State University Symphony Orchestra Competition and the IX BDMG Young Musician Competition. With the Amares Philharmonic Band, he won the Benavente Philharmonic Bands Competition (Spain) for Best Interpretation of the Test Piece, Best Band, and Audience Award.
He has taught clarinet masterclasses at the Águeda Conservatory (Portugal), at the XIV Brazilian Clarinetists Meeting (Brasília), and at the Pernambuco International Clarinet Festival (Brazil). He has also taught at the Castanheirense Philharmonic Band (Portugal), the Euterpe Philharmonic Band of Portalegre (Portugal), the Musicians’ Meeting in Caraça course organized by SESC Minas Gerais, the clarinet course promoted by the Support Program for Civil Music Bands of the State Secretariat of Culture of Minas Gerais, and the 1st Summer Festival of the Santa Cecília Musical Society (Sabará, Minas Gerais).
He worked as a Clarinet Professor at the José Siqueira Conservatory (Paraíba), the Portalegre Philharmonic Band (Portugal), the Nova Lima School of Music (Minas Gerais), the MPB Brasil com S School (Minas Gerais), and as a volunteer teacher of ear training and wind instruments for the Sacred Hearts Music Program at the Sanctuary of Saint Jude Thaddeus and the Sacred Hearts Church (Padre Eustáquio, Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais).
