Mário Dinis Marques

Mário Dinis Marques was born in 1972 in the city of Alcobaça. He studied the saxophone in the Music Conservatory of Lisbon. In 2002 he completed his degree in saxophone in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, and in 2105 his PhD in the University of Évora.
He has been a regular soloist in Calouste GulbenkianOrchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Oporto National Orchestra, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestraand Orchestra of Algarve.
He worked in various TV shows and Musical Theatre and recorded with several Portuguese groups such as“The Gift”; ” Silence4”; “Deolinda”; ”Bernardo Sassetti”, “Amália hoje” among others. He even has his own personal projects with the groups Tubax, Rondó da Carpideira, The Postcard Brass Band and Quarteto de Saxofones Saxofínia, where in addition to being a musician, he works in the production and records’ editing.
He was a resident artist in Alcobaça Cineteatro in the year of 2008 where he presented projects such as “Zoom In – A música de Daniel Schnyder e Músicade Anders Paulsson” for the soprano saxophone, Mixed Choir & Organ.
As a multifaceted musician and producer of several albums, he has put his experience in the study of musical interpretation and performance, presenting articles in various conferences.
He is assistantprofessor in the Music Department of the University of Évora where in addition to teaching he is adjunctof the Direction of the Department of Music.
