Angelos Politis

Born in 1979, Angelos received his first lessons of clarinet in the Philharmonic Society of Corfu. Since 1997, he attended Charalambos Farantatos and Spiros Mourikis clarinet classes at the Athens Conservatory, where he obtained his clarinet diploma in 2002 with 'excellent' honors and distinction. He continued his studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, as a fellow of the Hellenic Foundation of scholarships (I.K.Y.), with Prof. Guy DANGAIN. In 2005 he obtained the highest concert diploma and also attended the Ecole Normale advanced class. He took part in various master classes and attended particular courses with soloists of international reputation such as Thomas Friedli, Philippe Berrod, Alessandro Carbonare. In January 2005, he won the first prize at the European clarinet competition «Picardie» of the City of Amiens, France. In November 2012 he was a member of the jury at the International clarinet competition "MARCO FIORINDO" in Turin (Italy) and in February 2013 as well as at the 7th International competition for woodwind quintets "HENRI TOMASI" in Marseille (France). He has collaborated with the Orchestra of Colors, the Athens Camerata Orchestra, the Athens National Opera and the Athens State Orchestra, the Patras Orchestra (under the direction of Théodore Antoniou). He participated in many concerts of Chamber music and has given recitals in the "Salle Cortot" in Paris, “MEGARON” Athens concert Hall, Parnassus Hall of Athens etc. He is a member of "Aeolos" Woodwind Quintet and “Kyklos Ensemble” and has performed as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the municipality of Athens, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the city of Athens and with the National Orchestra of the Greek Radio Television (E.R.T.). He teaches the clarinet at the Athens Conservatory and at the Corfu Conservatory. He is 1st Clarinet at the National Orchestra of the Greek Radiotelevision. Angelos plays the Selmer “Privilège” clarinets.
