Luis Gomes


He studied at the National Conservatory, and graduated at the Escola Superior Música de Lisboa, at the Conservatory of Rotterdam , and he as also a Master in Psychology and Pedagogy of Music by the FCSH Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
As a student, he received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
He worked with world clarinetists as: Guy Deplus, Arrignon Michel, Philippe Cuper, Walter Boykens, David Campbell, Josef Horák, Lorenzo Coppola and Henri Bok.
Luis Gomes obtained the following prizes: 1st Prize Juventude Musical Portuguesa, Soloist and Chamber Music, 1st Prize for Chamber Music Premio Jovens Músicos, 1st Prize in the 'Culture and Development Competition', 2nd of TV Show "Listening and speaking ', 2nd Prize Culture and Development Competition in 'Chamber Music, 3rd Soloist Prize at the National Clarinet Competition in Setúbal and Best Interpretation Prize of the Portuguese piece.
He was Jury at the National Competition,JMP, the International Clarinet Competition Julian Menendez (Ávila, Spain), the 2nd International Competition Bass Clarinet (Spain) and the International Clarinet Competition "Saverio Mercadante» (Italy).
Was soloist with the following orchestras: the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, New Philharmonia Portuguesa, Sinfónica Juvenil and Youth Portuguese Orchestra.
He played as a soloist with: ORCHESTRUTOPICA, Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra, the Group of Lisbon Contemporary Music and Symphony Band PSP.
He collaborates with: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Portuguese Symphonic orchestra, Orchestrutopica, Sinfonietta de Lisboa and Lisbon Metropolitan orchestra.
It is a member of Lisbon Clarinet Quartet, the Group for Contemporary Music in Lisbon and the direction of CULTIVARTE Cultural Association.
He Is Director-Adjunto and professor of clarinet at the the National Conservatory and professor of clarinet at the University of Évora.
