Fabian Lim, a graduate from Berklee College of Music, is well-regarded in Singapore’s music circle, specializing in the saxophone. Adept in playing a wide variety of styles, Fabian is called to performed for a numerous contrasting music genres, ranging from theatre to jazz to classical. As a performer, he has performed for many events of varying scales, from local resident community celebrations and weddings to national and regional governmental summits. Fabian has performed with many local music dignitaries such as Dick Lee, Jeremy Monteiro, J.J Lin, Iskandar Ismail, A-Do, Fann Wong and also worked with international performers including Sandy Lam, A-Mei, Sky Wu, Eric Suen, Joanna Wang and Soda Green. He has also played with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the SAF Central Band, People’s Association Singapore Pop Orchestra, Thomson Big Band and was a featured saxophone soloist with PhilWinds and New World Orchestra.
Fabian has performed and recorded for popular theatre productions: Company, Santa Claus The Musical, Fried Rice Paradise, Dim Sum Dollies, I Have A Date With Spring, Honk!, Crazy Christmas, Man of Letters, Guys N’ Dolls (Boston, USA) and many others. Fabian was invited to perform with Nita Aartsen Trio and Dwiki Dharmawan in the Batam Jazz Festival in 2013, and was involved in the SingJazz Festival in Singapore with his band, the Steve McQueens, this year. They were also featured in the countdown launch for the SEA Games 2015 and at the upcoming Mosiac Festival at the Esplanade. Fabian’s saxophone was featured in the National Day Parade in 2012 and 2013, and is also heard in the MediaCorp Mandarin radio jingle, FM 95.8. Fabian recently performed with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for the Singapore Arts Festival opening performance, Facing Goya, a modern opera by Michael Nyman.
Fabian also plays the piccolo, flute, clarinet and the EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument).
Fabian is currently in London, recording an album with the Steve McQueens, at Livingston Studios, which will be produced by Jean-Paul Bluey Maunick, band leader of the globally acclaimed jazz-funk band, Incognito.
