Maxine Ramey

Maxine Ramey is Professor of Music-Clarinet and Director of the School of Music at The University of Montana. She will begin her tenure as President of The International Clarinet Association (I.C.A.) on September 1, 2014. An international solo and chamber music performer, she has presented concerts in 45 of the 50 U.S. States, as well as in Canada, South Korea, Germany, Japan, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Austria, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. She is clarinetist with the Sapphire Trio (clarinet, violin and piano) championing the commissions of the Verdehr Trio. They recently served as U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors in a tour of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The Trio were featured guest artists at the Spanish National Clarinet/European Clarinet Association Congress in 2013, and performed and presented at the 37th Annual Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium and Clarinetfest© 2014 at LSU this summer. Maxine Ramey is an advocate of new music and regularly programs the music of the late 20th century and 21st century on her recitals.
