Vitor Hugo MATOS

Vitor Hugo Ferreira de Matos (born 1977) is a clarinetist, teacher, conductor and artistic director. He studied in the Conservatories of music in Braga and Porto, in classes of teachers José Matos and Max George, with whom he clarinet. In 2001 he obtained the degree in ESMAE, where he studied with teachers António Saiote, Carlos Alves and Luis Silva. He attended masterclasses with António Saiote, Michel Arrignon, Paul Mayer, Guy Deplus and Philippe Cupper. Since 2000, studies regularly in Italy, with clarinetist Alessandro Carbonare. Has performed several concerts in Rome, at the invitation of the Instituto Santo António of Portugal, playing various works on first hearing, with the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra that the composer Joaquim dos Santos gave him. As a performer he collaborated with the Orchestra of the North Port Lisboa Sinfonieta, for Chamber Orchestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Musicare and Gulbenkian Foundation. Performed as a soloist and in Chamber music in the following international music festivals: Spring Meetings-Guimarães, Póvoa de Varzim, Gaia, Cascais, Matthew, Toulouse and live music. He studied conducting with Maestro Charles Costa. In the field of conducting has directed several orchestras including North Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Minho, Minho University's Academic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Conservatory and theater of Kaiserslautern and southern Germany radio, performing works from the Baroque period to contemporary. Was assistant conductor Gunther Arglebe and Flores in the operas Carmen, Bizet and Elixir d'amore, g. Donizetti. In the field of Opera, directed the "the little Aide", "Noah's Ark" by b. Britten and Bizet's "Carmen", all of them national productions. Had the privilege of driving prestigious soloists such as Patrizia Porgio, Peter Arnold, Ilya Grubert, Dora Rodrigues Luís Pipa, Vasco Faria and Angêlo Martingo, among others. Was awarded within the framework of conducting several times, highlighting the awards obtained in Barcelona and Rome (Awards "Bachetta d'Oro" for best conductor, "Bachetta of argento" as best interpretation). In 2007, he directed the school's Orchestra, Sinfónica de Madrid under the specialization courses in contemporary music and conducting at the University of Alcala de Henares (Madrid) with the conductors Arturo Tamayo and Jesus Lopez Coboz. Teaching experience includes master classes in Guimarães (International Courses), vocational schools of music by Viana do Castelo and JOBRA, wood, Horschule of Kaisrslautern. Stand out in its class several students winners in national and international competitions. In December 2010, was the jury of the international competition of Clarinet and chamber music "Marco Fiorindo" in Turin. At the invitation of the Presidency of the Republic, he directed the Orchestra of the North in the June 10 concert in 2006 (day of Portugal). Was recently named for the Capital of culture 2012 Guimarães-conductor and artistic director of the Orchestra under-21. Currently Mancu is Guest teacher of Department auxiliary equated with music of Humaties of the University of Minho and the pedagogical Director at the Academy of music Valentine Moreira de Sá in Guimarães. Vítor Matos plays a SELMER Paris Clarinet At the moment is a Ph.d. candidate in music at the University of Évora.
