Sergey Kolesov is one of Russia’s leading saxophonists. He is the first and the only Russian musician to win the “Grand Prix” at the International Adolphe Sax Competition in Dinant, Belgium, which he was awarded in 2006. Competing among 176 outstanding international participants, Sergey Kolesov obtained three First Prizes for the best performance of the works written especially for this competition. A graduate of the Russian Gnesin’s Academy of Music, he studied in the class of Professor and Russian People's Artist, Margarita Shaposhnikova, the founder of the Russian classical saxophone school. Sergey Kolesov is a prize winner at a number of prestigious international competitions, including:
- First Prize winner of the International Saxophone Competition “Selmer-Paris” in Kiev, Ukraine (2003).
- The “Special Prize Henri Selmer” at the International Competition of saxophonists “Saxiana” in Paris, France (2004)

Sergey Kolesov maintains an active series of concerts and pedagogical activities in all Russian regions and all over the world (Italy, Germany, Poland, Belgium, France, Turkey, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, China, Japan).

The repertoire of this brilliant saxophonist includes a wide range of works, from music transcriptions of Bach and Mozart to compositions by leading composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Performing chamber music ranks high among his activities.
