Presentation:
    He was beginning ont the alto saxophone at age 14. Coleman came under the spell of Charlie Parker, thought with a twist that he’d develop later. He Plays in several bands in New Orleans then return to Los Angeles in 1952. He studied harmony and theory zeasously from books, in the meantime he worked as an elevator operator.
    In 1958, he recorded his first disc for Contemporary Records , with a conventional piano, bass and drums rhythm section, before he signed in 1959 with Atlantic Records. His album "Tomorrow Is the Question!" will truely launch his career. Then Coleman’s quartet went to record seven controversial albums for Atlantic before recording for the prestigious Blue Note Label.
    Coleman’s taken gim o Northern Africa to work with the Master Musicians of Joujouka. In recent years he has peformed with a double electric ensemble ha calls Prime Time. His project have also included ethnic percussionists, dancers, poets, rappers, and even a controversial series performances with body piercers.
