Andy Scott has performed all over the world, with the award winning Apollo Saxophone Quartet and his jazz group SaxAssault. He also performs with Caliente, a trio with flautist Clare Southworth and harpist Lauren Scott, and in a duo with percussionist Dave Hassell. Andy is a tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music, co-Artistic Director with Rob Buckland of the annual RNCM Saxophone Day, and a popular course leader on summer schools across the UK and internationally. He founded the World Tenor Saxophone Consortium in 2003 and launched the Tenor Saxophone Index, a new online repertoire resource, in 2012. Andy is an endorsee of SELMER Paris Saxophones.
Andy Scott received a British Composer Award in 2006 for his double saxophone concerto Dark Rain, and his work Spirit of Mingus was shortlisted at Basca 2012. Andy is increasingly in demand to compose works for high profile instrumentalists both in the UK and internationally. His tenor saxophone concerto was premiered by Branford Marsalis at the World Saxophone Congress in 2012. Forthcoming projects include a New Music Biennial commission with Lemn Sissay for Foden’s Brass Band with harpist Lauren Scott and soprano Anna-Clare Monk (with performances at the Southbank Centre, London and Commonwealth Games, Glasgow), a solo harp work for Sioned Williams, a guitar concerto for Craig Ogden and a trumpet concerto for Rex Richardson. Andy’s works are published by Astute Music.
