Oskars PETRAUSKIS

Oskars Petrauskis (1981) has received his education in Latvian Academy of Music in the class of Professor Artis Sīmanis and at the Berlin University of Arts in the class of Professor Johannes Ernst; in the spring of 2007 he received Master’s degree. Oskars was awarded in many international contests in Latvia, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Sweden. On february 18, 2007 Oskars having his brother Raimonds Petrauskis on the piano won the first prize at the international facing a fierce competition at the Yamaha Sax Contest 2007 (Germany). In 2006 he is semifinalist in competition Dinant 2006 and 2005 he is one of three best musitians in EBU/EUR Radio New Talent competition. Together with pianist Raimonds Petrauskis enjoying regular concert performances in Latvia and around the world. In the summer of 2006 both musicians supplemented their list of success stories with a splendid performance at the World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia followed by great ovations at Shleswig- Holstein Festival ( Germany). In year 2008 a CD with music by American composers was recorded and released by Professional wind orchestra Rīga. As soloist has performed with all major symphony orchestras in Latvia and Slovakian Radio symphony orchestra. Since 2007 he plays with Professional Wind orchestra Rīga as the concertmaster of the saxophone section.
In 2010 Oskars together with Xylem Trio made CD collaborating with famous composer Giya Kancheli In The Mood Of Giya Kancheli. And this albm received award of the year Best instrumental album of 2010 in Latvia.
In 2011 Oskars together with his brother pianist Raimonds Petrauskis has published out New music album Mia. This album is dedicated for classical saxophone repertuar and music witch is very closed to bought of musitians.
Today Oskar is member of Riga saxophone quartet, 1st alto saxophonist in Symphonic Band Riga, member of Xylem Trio and has active concert live as soloist with main symphony orchestras in Baltic states.
